The Design: The Chore Coat is a classic boxy cut, patterned after a vintage chore coat.
The French Workwear coat has an added a chest pocket and a shortened the length to mimic a french work-shirt silhouette. The jacket design also includes easy brass snap button closures, a small pointed collar, two large fatigue pockets near the side of the coat and a relaxed tapered sleeve. This style is shown in the first set of photos with the model in the colorful patchwork quilt coat.
The Classic Chore Coat is longer in length, has two large patch pockets on the front of the coat and a wider collar. This style is shown in the second set of photos with the model in the denim patchwork quilt coat.
The Textile: This quilt is made using pretty, old cotton fabrics from the 1950's -1960's. The quilt top was sewn on a home sewing machine with hand stitched binding all around in excellent condition. The blanket is quilted using the hand-tie technique with variegated green cotton thread. The back of the quilt is soft matching rust colored cotton fabric. It is thin and would make a comfortable garment.
We make each jacket using repurposed vintage quilts that we source from textile waste centers across Texas. Quilts are updated as often as we find suitable pieces to be transformed. Each piece of clothing we make uses vintage material, so there may be “imperfections” in the form of mended areas, patches & distressing.
How it works: Choose a quilt from our collection and select your size. The specific measurements of each size are located in our size chart above. If you wish to have your piece tailored beyond our given design, (ex: sleeve length, jacket length, or other special requests) please contact us via email. Howdy@psychicoutlaw.com
Made To Order: This jacket is crafted especially for you. Please choose your size and style thoughtfully. We do not offer returns on these one of a kind creations. We want each quilt to be respectfully invested in before we cut into it. The time and love poured into each jacket is time consuming and a work of art, as we revive these historic quilts into wearable clothing. Reach out to us if you have any questions - we are real and nice humans who love to see these quilts turn into something cherished once again.
